One probe per second to a tiny Google endpoint, an HTTP round trip includes a sliver of server time, so figures run a little higher than a true ICMP ping. Only timing leaves your device.

How it works

仕組み

Watch your connection’s latency in real time. Once per second this tool times a tiny HTTP round trip from your browser to a lightweight Google endpoint and plots the result on a live strip chart: steady brass bars mean a calm line, red spikes mean lag. Alongside the graph you get the last reading, the running average, jitter (how much successive readings wobble), and how many probes were lost. Only your own device on your own network can answer this; no article can tell you whether your Wi-Fi is spiking right now.

Why are these numbers higher than a normal ping?

A browser can’t send raw ICMP packets, so this tool times a full HTTP request instead. That round trip includes connection handling and a sliver of server time on top of pure network latency, so expect readings a little above what the ping command reports. The trend and the jitter are still just as meaningful.

What counts as good latency and jitter?

On a wired or solid Wi-Fi connection, under about 50 ms with single-digit jitter feels instant. Video calls stay comfortable up to roughly 100-150 ms, and competitive gaming gets noticeably harder past that. High jitter is often worse than high-but-steady latency, because jitter is what makes voices garble and games rubber-band.

What does a red bar or a lost probe mean?

A red bar is a reading more than twice your median: a momentary spike, often from Wi-Fi interference, a microwave, or someone starting a big download. A full red column means the probe timed out entirely. Occasional spikes are normal; a wall of red while you’re near the router suggests congestion or a flaky link.
